Ready Made Frame Fit Up Guide
Opening the frame
1. Remove cellophane and place hanging hardware (D-rings and string) to one side.
2. Using ruler or similar bend the flexible framers points to just over 90 degrees allowing the backing to be removed.
3. Turn the frame over while supporting the foamcore backing and carefully lift the foamcore and matboard out of the frame leaving the glass in place.
Caution: the edge of the glass will be very sharp so do not remove the glass from the frame to avoid injury.
Positioning the photo
4. Place the foam core backing and matboard side by side, with the edges touching and fasten with framers tape (we recommend framers tape due to its acid free properties, but masking tape will do as an alternative).
5. Close the matboard and backing board like you would a book to check they are square to each other and adjust tape if necessary.
6. Take your photo, certificate or artwork to be framed and place on top of the foamcore backing under the matboard and position in place so you can see the subject of the photo as centered as possible. If the photo is larger than the outside of the matboard, trim photo to size, ideally slightly smaller than the outside mat size so you have room to position easily.
7. Once you know the print will fit and have a rough position, place a soft weight on the photo to hold it in position.
8. Open the mat and foamcore book and using framers tape stick the top of the photo to hold it in place.
Note: Only tape the top of the photo so it hangs in place and allows the photo to expand and contract as humidity changes.
9. With the photo hinged in place, check there is no dirt or debris under the photo.
Fitting back into the frame
10. Retrieve the frame with glass in place and keeping the frame face down, take the photo, mat and backing, and position on the glass in the frame ensuring there is no dust or debris between the photo and glass.
11. Keeping gentle pressure on the back of the foamcore to hold it against the glass, bend the flexi points down firmly against the foamcore backing. You can use your fingers and apply moderate pressure with the top of a pen or small screwdriver.
12. Once all framers points have secured the photo, mat and backing in place turn over and closely inspect the front of the matboard and photo to ensure is it dust and debris free.
Attaching hangers
13. To position the hangers correctly, measure approximately 1/3 from the top of the frame ensuring each side is identical.
14. Retrieve the hanging fasteners (D-rings and screws) and using a Philips head screwdriver or drill bit, secure the D-rings with the screws provided with the ring facing inwards.
Note: using the correct screws is important, ensuring they are long enough to be strong enough but not so long that they protrude through the front of the frame.
15. Feed the hanging string through one of the D-rings secured to the back of the frame and tie one end using a series of half hitch knots.
16. Pull tightly through the second D-ring and tie using a series of half hitches.
17. Cut off the excess string with scissors or sharp knife.
18. Turnover, do a final inspection and your frame is ready to hang and enjoy!
That's it. Your new Everyday ready made frame is ready to hang and enjoy for a lifetime.
